Our Story
From my early childhood, I would sit beside my mother as she got ready for her day, watching her in front of the mirror. Every move intentional, every adornment mindful.
She dresses up for herself; even today, that keenness and observation to detail remains steadfast. Maa sticks to her style, never deterring. Unfazed by trends or social pressure, her uniqueness always shines through. She taught me what self-love looked like before it became a fad on Instagram. I have imbibed her ways in more ways than one, be it the way I carry my dupatta, line my eyes, or pick a lip shade. I nurtured my sense of style, of carrying myself, of being - from her. What comes naturally to me is her normal; what you see here is legacy.
Growing up in my loving family of five, my sister and I have never had to turn to the market or shops for anything. Be it school functions, festivities, anything fancy or mundane - no matter what we needed, be it clothes, jewellery, accessories - we knew without a doubt all we needed to do was raid our mother’s almariih
Inspiration behind it all? The easiest mental image I can draw - Maa in front of the mirror, knowing full well how she would look.
Feeling at home with this familiarity came instinctively to me.
So, it never came as a surprise when after spending my childhood days walking hand in hand with Maa through the markets of Jaipur and then, multiple cups of shaam ki chai with her as I grew older; spanning years of discussion and planning, this itch that couldn’t be ignored led to the creation of something of my own. Finding myself in Auroville and slowing down to its pace allowed me to explore what had, for so long, remained a concept, finally. The dream was no longer intangible.
Fuelled by a deep desire to create and driven by a passion to see visions take form, came alive - Almariih Jaipur by Aishwarya Vikal.
